Notes

  • This is currently an active state tower
  • The first tower was an existing 25 FT open wooden tower owned by the Amherst Mountain Club
  • Permission was granted to the state to use the tower for fire detection
  • Two miles of phone line is then run to this location
  • In 1920, a 48 FT steel tower moved from the Hanson site is erected here
  • In 1942, this tower is dismantled and moved to Plymouth
  • At the time of the move, a new 65 FT tower provided by the US Forest Service is built
  • In 1957, the current 68 FT tower is built
