Notes

  • This is currently an active state tower
  • The original tower constructed at this site in the fall of 1911 was a 40 FT Windmill Style with ladder and a 6 x 6 FT cab.
  • At the same time of contruction, 1.5 miles of phone line is also constructed
  • In 1920, the original tower is replaced with a 68 FT tower
  • In 1921, a small ground cabin is built at the base of the tower
  • This tower is eventually destroyed by the huricane of 1938
  • A temporary wooden tower is constructed in the fall of 1938
  • A new steel 68 FT tower is contructed in 1939
  • In 1949, the first powerline is brought to the site
  • In 1950, two-way radios were installed
  • In 1966, a new cab (current one) and a chain link fence are constructed
