Notes
-
1913-present
Equipped
in 1913 by the NH Forestry Commission, originally with a ground stand supporting
the panorama map. There had been a summer home and observatory on the summit earlier.
In 1924 a 27' steel tower was built. There were repairs over the years, and in
1953-1954 the watchman built a larger cab on the tower to accommodate visitors.
The station remains in service. The
name Kearsarge is applied to both the Warner mountain and the one in Chatham.
There has been a great deal of local controversy as to which is the "real"
Kearsarge. |
