Notes

  • 1913-present
  • Equipped in 1913 by the NH Forestry Commission, originally with a ground stand supporting the panorama map. There had been a summer home and observatory on the summit earlier. In 1924 a 27' steel tower was built. There were repairs over the years, and in 1953-1954 the watchman built a larger cab on the tower to accommodate visitors. The station remains in service.
  • The name Kearsarge is applied to both the Warner mountain and the one in Chatham. There has been a great deal of local controversy as to which is the "real" Kearsarge.
