Notes

  • 1939 - 1981, standing, returned to service in 2005
  • Built in 1939 with New England Forest Emergency funds. It is a 41' steel tower, with materials and labor furnished by the CCC. The cab was rebuilt in 1960, with no steel used above the cab floor. It was closed in 1981, though used for radio communications. In 2003 the state air quality program offered to underwrite restoration as a fire tower in return for permission to install monitoring equipment. Work was in progress in the summer of 2004 and completed in 2005.
  • The tower was in service for the 2005 fire season.
